There are no local apple stores that's why I'm asking for help here. What I think I'm needing is someone that can help me get the Apple Installer.app installed properly since it doesn't appear to be. Now, I can't say for certain that this would fix everything even if it were but, shouldn't this be installed? Shouldn't this Apple app be there?! It's always easy to blame things on a third party but this really looks like more of an Apple problem to me right now. I've searched manually and the app just isn't there. It sounds more like a vital app that should've been installed onto her laptop from the factory wasn't. In the other two situations, you must acquire a compatible version of Office, make do with an alternative, or forget the whole. There is a workaround for one of these situations. Since this install needs the Apple Installer.app, which doesn't seem to be installed on my daughter's MacBook, I'm not really certain how this could be a Microsoft issue. I am left to believe that you are either trying to install Office 2011 on a PPC-based Mac or you are trying to install Office 2004 or Office 2008 on an Intel-based Mac. Yes, I followed the instructions to the letter. Yes, I said I'm starting to feel like an idiot, not that I am one. Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone might be able to provide. I would be most appreciative of any assistance anyone could give to this Mac newbie so that I don't look like a total idiot in front of my step-daughter and I can get her ready to start classes.
I CANT INSTALL OFFICE 2008 FOR MAC PRO
I'm not certain of the model or the OS version but I do know it was the newest 15" MacBook Pro model when ordered a month ago and I'm assuming it has the latest version of OS X. I can't seem to find this app anywhere on her computer so I can't install anything. From what I've learned, it should be at either /Applications/Utilities/Installer.app or /System/Library/CoreServices/Installer.app, depending on her version of OS X. I thought I'd go find it and start it myself but there appears to be no Installer app installed on her system. From what I've read, the Installer app should open automatically but it isn't. When I do this it says something about mpkg files and tells me to pick an app to use with it. Every time I insert the disc, a window opens and tells me to double-click on the install icon. In anticipation of her starting college in the fall, we purchased Microsoft Office 2008 for her computer and I can't seem to get it installed.
I CANT INSTALL OFFICE 2008 FOR MAC SOFTWARE
Hopefully this feeling won't last but right now I'm just struggling to get software installed. I know the big thing about Macs is supposed to be how intuitive everything is but I'm just not seeing it and I'm feeling like a total computer idiot right now.
I CANT INSTALL OFFICE 2008 FOR MAC FOR MAC
Office 2008 for Mac includes the same core programs currently. Microsoft stopped supporting Office 2008 on April 9, 2013. Office 2008 is the last version to feature Entourage, which was replaced by Outlook in Office 2011.
I CANT INSTALL OFFICE 2008 FOR MAC FOR MAC OS
I've been a Microsoft user for almost twenty years and this is my first experience with a Mac so most of this is new to me. Microsoft Office 2008 is a version of the Microsoft Office productivity suite for Mac OS X. I assume that these are seamless add-ons to Word and not separate Word processors and that they have the capability of a customizable list of terms. My wife and I purchased a new 15" MacBook Pro for my step-daughter a few weeks ago. I will look into Typinator and TextExpander. Seems like this would be a common need but somehow MS never got around to providing a 'replace' - 'with' engine that can be captured as a separate file (actually, it is not so much the engine as an export-import utility that is needed). That is, I am looking for a way to upload my prsonal list. More of a hassle then I wanted to get into. I may have to write a BASIC or VBA program to extract these terms into a comma delimited file, and then go from there.
